Lunchtime Fire

The great thing about being a Scout is the skills you learn along your journey from Beavers up to Rovers. Lighting a fire becomes second nature and its a nice luxury to warm yourself up at lunchtime!

Cubs & Scouts in Powerscourt

Mini Marathon

Every Bank Holiday Monday in June for the past I don’t know how many years I’ve been manning the water stations in Donnybrook for the Ladies Mini Marathon. This year was no different!! It’s  a fun day and also a great fundraiser for the sections.

We’ve just received an email from Stephen Bruton of the 3rd/40th/41st Donnybrook thanking us for our support and involvement! Looking forward to next year already!

Folks,
Just a brief note of thanks to everyone involved in the Mini Marathon yesterday. We had nearly 100 people on the water station and 42 stewarding positions covered.
Thanks also to the 7th and the Kildare group for their involvement on the day and to Jason for the great barbeque after.
Cheers
Stephen, Pat, Mary & Dermot.

St Patrick’s Day Church Parade

Thanks to the 3rd/40th/41st Donnybrook for inviting us along to the St Patrick’s day church parade, which hasn’t been around for the past number of years. Hopefully, this will become an annual event again. It’s great to show the scouting presence in the community!

Venturers go Paintballing

Not even the miserable weather could dampen the mood. I think the rain added to the sombre mood of the whole event – the whole thing was like a scene out of saving private ryan but obviously a bit more intense… We’re scouts after all! This activity was particularly enjoyable and the stand out memory for me was when we entered a free for all at the end of our session with everyone against everyone!!

Things we learnt:

Paintball hurts
Have eyes on the back of your head
and RUNNN!!

Thanks to Neil Dorgan and everyone at http://www.specialops.ie/ for making the day great.

Goodbye Denmark!
