History

St Marys

St Mary’s parish church was designed by John Semple, architect to the Board of First Fruits. Work commenced in 1827 and the building was completed in 1830 for the sum of £4,500.

7th Dublin Scouts have been located at St Mary’s for over 100 years, making it one of the oldest scout groups in the whole country. The scout group are forever thankful for the support we receive from the select vestry.

There are currently three sections in 7th Dublin scouts; Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and the newly formed Rover Group. We cater for children from the age of 9 until they turn 18 and return to the group as leaders.

During their time as youth members, they will learn lots of important life skills, such as, teamwork, leadership and a great sense of adventure but most importantly they will make friends for life.

John Marchant is the current Priest in Charge at St Mary’s Church and he has been a great supporter of our scout group. Service is held at 10am on Sunday and the congregation invites you to join them.

They have just created a fantastic new website that has lots of great pictures and details, please visit it here:
